Johnny Hagen of Absolute Music traveled to Mali, Africa to record sound for the documentary Mrs. Goundo’s Daughter. Barbara Attie and Janet Goldwater of Attie & Goldwater Productions, hired Johnny along with cinematographer Peter Brownscombe to work on this moving documentary about the traditional practice of female circumcision. The crew explored the beautiful country and people of Mali for two weeks in December of 2008. Plans are to return in September 2009 to continue work.

Johnny Hagen is back from Rome, where he recorded a choral performance written by Stephen Edwards. David Haugland was the director of this documentary for release on PBS and Italian Public TV. Cinematographer Tom Adair and producer Julie Hartley were among the crew capturing this classical music event, Requiem for my Mother.
Congratulations to the Bruce Vento Nature Center. Absolute Music was invited to produce a series of podcasts for the center by Dawn Erlandson of Aurora Strategic Advisors. We recorded an assortment of moving stories told by workers, board members, and users of this fabulous site located in St. Paul.Grab the kids and the dog and head on over for a bit of peace in city limits.

Absolute Music and Life Time Fitness again partner up to do their monthly Experience Life broadcast. Pilar Gerasimo and Johnny Hagen get together each month to produce the show that airs in all of the fitness facilities. “Pilar is a sheer joy to work with. She writes a great show and her skill as a voice talent really shines.” Pilar recently was a guest on Dr. Mehment Oz’s show on the Oprah & Friends radio network.

We enjoyed having Michael York at Absolute Music for a day of voice recording for an animated feature film, Flatland.
